The Tijereta is a 54-foot Taylor custom Carolina boat, offering an incredibly soft ride in almost any sea condition. The spacious cockpit is the heart of the fishing action, complete with Release Marine fighting chair and plenty of room for up to four anglers to fish simultaneously. Her salon is equally spacious and is also air-conditioned for your comfort. Tackle consists of an extensive range of Shimano gear mated to custom rods (up to 50-pound class), and fly gear is also available.
The fishing is usually centered around the classic trolling style, using rigged dead ballyhoo in conjunction with 30-pound class tackle and circle hooks to promote a healthy release of the billfish at the end of the fight.

October through December: Aruba The Tijereta returns to the island nation of Aruba, where a surprisingly good fishery for blue and white marlin, along with the occasional sailfish, has been underway. Lodging is relatively inexpensive, making this a great destination for anyone who wants to get away from the cold and enjoy some excellent billfishing. Come to Where the Fish Are: Costa Rica! This Central American nation hosts some of the world's finest fishing for Pacific sailfish along with plenty of Pacific blue, striped and black marlin along the way. January through April: Carrillo, Costa Rica Located just 90 minutes from the northern Costa Rican city of Liberia, Carrillo sits squarely in the heart of marlin country. Several excellent charter operations are based here in the winter and early spring months:

Lodging: While in Carrillo, the Sporting Traditions usually books clients in the Villas Playa Samara, a beachfront resort complete with restaurant, spacious pool (with swim up bar), game room, and much more. The newly remodeled villas offer outstanding comfort and an excellent value. Transfers are arranged ahead of time, where private vans shuttle anglers to the Carrillo anchorage just a few miles away. Another alternative is the Hotel Guanamar, overlooking the anchorage itself. With newly remodeled rooms, open air patio-style bar and lower deck swimming pool, Guanamar is a quaint alternative.
For those wishing for a bit more luxury and privacy, the private hilltop resort home Casa Vela is also available for rent. Perfect for larger parties or families, Casa Vela can sleep four comfortably in two bedrooms and two and a half baths. The mountaintop location overlooking the village of Carrillo has unrivaled views of the Pacific Ocean. An infinity pool and Jacuzzi complete the package!
July through September: Flamingo, Costa Rica As the summer season turns to fall, the above boats all move north to fish out of Flamingo, located in northern Costa Rica. Go Guatemala for Adventure! Ask just about anyone in the world of sportfishing about the top destination for Pacific sailfish, and nine out of ten will say that it's undoubtedly Guatemala. Trips here usually consist of three days of fishing: anglers fly into the nation's capital, Guatemala City, then head down to the coast in our pre-arranged private vans to Casa Pez Vela. From there, it's nonstop offshore adventure. On the final day, anglers head back into the city where they are hosted in a luxurious hotel just minutes from the airport for their flights home the following morning.
